Plants at Home, October 2017

So when Oliver and I moved to a new place last April, one of my first agenda was to fill our little home with plants. I buy my plants at Quezon City Circle, since most of them are those from the Manila Seedling Bank before. I suppose it is cheaper here than buying in White Plains or elsewhere.

White Angel Wrightia antidysenterica
They look so beautiful and white. I asked for a flowering plant that is easy to maintain and the lady said this is a low maintenance plant. Bought three of them and placed it in a long plant box.

Tropical Plant #1
I have no idea what this plant is. It came from Oliver's old place in Kamias, and I asked to have it since it looked so tropical with its big leaves, and it looked like it was dying :( so we had it, and I religiously watered it during the summer heat, and to my surprise, new leaves grew. ♡

Kitchen Plants
This is my kitchen window which is an extension of my mini garden on our porch. From left to right, you see:

  • These small plants surviving on water which have been with me for three years already! They came from those flower bouquets from Oliver during our anniversaries. I thought sayang naman kung itatapon lang. And they survived yay ♡
  • The two stems on a glass jar came from the mint plant I have. I am experimenting on propagating them on water. We'll see how it goes.
  • The next two ones are my succulents which I have since two years as you can see in this post. They definitely looked different now but I am so happy they are still alive!
  • Mint Plant. Surprised they are growing so fast I had to trim it and progate two stems. Happy with this plant. I just pick some leaves to put with my lemon water.
  • Basil. I had a basil before but it died, and bought a new one. They are also growing fast and tall. I suppose it is because of the good sunlight from the window. I use it for pasta and salads.

Tropical Plant #2
I have no idea what this plant is too. I saw it on a garden shop at QC Circle and figured it could be a good indoor plant, but I think it's meant to be outside as the small leaves kept on falling and I have to clean the floor from time to time. So now it's outside and it seems like it loves water and sun.

Rosemary
Hurray for my rosemary! I recently bought it and now it sits on the kitchen window too. Everytime I water it, its fragrance fills my nose.  It also looks healthy. I was a bit nervous because I used to have a rosemary before and it died too but this one's a good one. I think it's ready for propagation as well.

Without photos:

  • Sampaguita! I bought three stems, they flower from time to time. Always crossing my fingers they don't die as it is not easy to find.
  • Pandan. So happy it is growing and growing.
  • Citronella. I have two citronella plants to deter mosquitoes. I cut the leaves and put it in an olive oil bath and place it on those ceramic oil burners. They are effective!
  • I also have this plant which according to the seller is another mosquito repellant. I forgot the name it smells wonderful but I don't know if it actually repels mosquitoes.
